University of Utah selects StatMonitr for 2012-13

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The University of Utah has selected StatBroadcast's StatMonitr media stats platform and hardware system to use for its on-campus athletic events through the 2012-13 academic year. Utah will offer both StatBroadcast's media stats website to the media as well as wireless stat monitor screens for events on the Salt Lake City campus.

The University of Utah is a public university with an enrollment of more than 23,000 that was founded in 1850; it is the state's flagship university. The Utah Utes sponsor 17 sports at the Division-I level as a member of the Pac-12 conference. The Utes accepted an invitation to join the Pac-12 in June 2010 and recently completed their first year of competition as a member of the conference. The Utes became the first team fro ma a non-BCS conference to play in and win a BCS bowl, finishing undefeated wth a victory in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl; they returned to the BCS with a victory over Alabama in the 2009 Sugar Bowl.

The Utes have also had success with their men's basketball program, ranking ninth in totla wins in Division-I. They have made 27 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four Final Fours, most recently in 1998, and one NCAA championship in 1944. Utah also became the first school to produce two No. 1 professional draft picks in the same year when Alex Smith was selected first in the 2005 NFL Draft and Andrew Bogut was selected later that year as the number one pick in the NBA Draft.
